Technologies and policies for intermodal freight and logistics systems vulnerability and security;
Modeling crowd dynamics and evacuation processes;
Decision support network traffic modeling methodologies and software for:
(1) Emergency planning, vulnerability assessment, evacuation planning and disaster emergency preparedness (e.g. DYNASMART-P software applications, funded by US DOT);
(2) Real-time damage assessment, impact prediction and operational response (e.g. DYNASMART-X software for online estimation and prediction of highway traffic network flows).

Credentials

Dr. Mahmassani is the author and co-author of over 200 refereed journal publications in various aspects of transportation and traffic planning, and operations research. He is the evaluator and advisor to various university research and academic entities, national research institutes, government research programs, and corporate R&D units.

Dr. Mahmassani is a consultant to several companies and government agencies in the areas of intelligent transportation systems, transportation network modeling and simulation, crowd behavior and dynamics, evacuation planning, emergency response and real-time decision making, strategic systems planning, operations and logistics.
