Foreign policy decision making and crisis behavior;
Use of simulation in political science, particularly the use of Web-based simulations for negotiating, decision-making and communicating;
Distributed artificial intelligence (DAI) in strategic negotiation models for inter-agent cooperation;
Use of experimental techniques to study the mediation process in international crisis negotiations and how decision makers learn from previous crisis experience.

Credentials

Dr. Wilkenfeld is the recepient of the Distinguished Program Award presented by the Maryland Association for Higher Education for the ICONS instructional model (1994) and the University of Maryland Award for Innovation in Teaching with Technology for the ICONS project (2001)

He is the author of A Study of Crisis (1997 and 2000, with Michael Brecher) and Negotiating a Complex World (1999, with Brigid Starkey and Mark Boyer)
