As of March 1, 2009, nominees must hold full time appointments (tenure or non-tenure) on the faculty of the sponsoring institution and they must not have been in such an appointment, at the sponsoring institution or other institutions, for more than three years as of July 15, 2009. Time spent in clinical internships, post-doctoral training, residencies or in work toward board certification does not count as part of the three year limit. Visiting Professorships in Health Literacy and Clear Health Communication	Pfizer, Inc.	01-31-2009	$7,500	More than one application per academic medical center may be submitted, provided each is from a different division or department.	Accredited U.S. medical schools (allopathic or osteopathic), affiliated teaching hospitals, and organizations related to adult education, health policy, managed care, medicine, nursing, pharmacy, and public health are eligible to apply. The head of the division or department should serve as the "Host" of the visiting professor and the visit. Institutions with new, emerging, and community-based research and clinical programs, as well as academic and community partnerships, are encouraged to apply. Organizations that do not typically have the opportunity to bring in prominent experts should consider this program. The applicant may choose a Visiting Professor who is a regionally, nationally, or internationally known expert. It is not intended that an individual serve as both a Host and a Visiting Professor in the Pfizer Visiting Professorships in Health Literacy and Clear Health Communication program in a given year. Members of the Pfizer Visiting Professorships in Health Literacy and Clear Health Communication Academic Advisory Board are not eligible to serve as a host or visitor during their term on the advisory board. Divisions or departments that hosted 2008 Visiting Professorships in Health Literacy and Clear Health Communication are not eligible to serve again as Host Institutions in this program in the 2009 program cycle. International Science and Education Competitive Grants Program	United States Department of Agriculture (USDA), Cooperative State Research, Education, and Extension Service (CSREES)	01-16-2009	The maximum amount under this program is $150,000 per award.	1	Applications may be submitted by colleges and universities as defined in section 1404 of NARETPA. The terms "college" and "university" mean an educational institution in any state which (1) admits as regular students only person having a certificate of graduation from a school providing secondary education, or the recognized equivalent of such a certificate, (2) is legally authorized within such state to provide a program of education beyond secondary education, (3) provides an education program for which a bachelor's degree or any other higher degree is awarded, (4) is a public or other nonprofit institution, and (5) is accredited by a nationally recognized accrediting agency or association. Scholars Grants in Public Health	Pfizer, Inc.	01-15-2009	Up to two grants of $130,000 each, paid over two years	More than one application per academic institution may be submitted, provided that each application is from a different division or department; however, only one Pfizer Scholars Grant in Public Health will be granted per institution per year.	Anticipated deadline. U.S. citizens or foreign nationals with U.S. permanent resident status who are junior faculty (within two years of appointment as an instructor, an assistant professor, or an equivalent junior faculty rank) with a doctoral degree and who are employed by an accredited school or program of public health at the time of application are encouraged to apply. The applicant should already have an appointment at an accredited U.S. school or program of public health. The applicant must have two mentors: a faculty mentor experienced in public health practice-based research; and a member of staff of a state or local public health organization relevant to the proposed research.
