Introduction

Limited submissions refer to sponsor announcements that limit or restrict the number of applications, proposals, or nominations allowed from an eligible university or research institution.

Submitting a Notice of Intent

The number of limited submission opportunities is increasing dramatically from Federal agencies and foundations. To respond to these opportunities, a table has been created which roughly corresponds to opportunities in the Fall and Spring semesters. If you see an opportunity of interest, please submit a brief description of the project (2- 3 pages), a short Curriculum Vita (CV) and a summary budget, if appropriate, to Dr. Mary Ann Ottinger, Associate Vice President for Research (maottinger@umresearch.umd.edu), with a reference to the limited submission announcement. This pre-proposal for internal review is requested 4-6 weeks prior to the sponsor's deadline to allow sufficient time for an internal competition and final proposal preparation

Notification of Internal Competition

If the number of interested applicants exceeds the Sponsor's limitations, then an internal competition will be conducted. The nominee or PI will be notified and the proposal can be routed through the department/college and then submitted to the Office of Research Administration and Advancement (ORAA).

Competitions Listed on this Website

The limited submissions information has been compiled from several sources and is not designed to be an exhaustive list. If faculty, staff or students are interested in a limited submission announcement that has not been listed on this website, please notify Dr. Ottinger so that ORAA can add the opportunity to the website. If necessary, an internal competition will be conducted and ORAA will be notified of the UMCP nominee.
