| Subject: | Adobe Reader Version 9.1 for Grants.gov Submissions |
The most recent version of Adobe Reader – version 9.1 – has been tested by Grants.gov and used by ORAA to successfully submit applications. Adobe Reader version 9.1 addresses some issues present in the 9.0 version of the software.
Adobe Reader 9.1 patches security flaws, and therefore ORAA recommends that all individuals that interact with the electronic Grants.gov application packages upgrade their version of Adobe Reader to 9.1.
Reminders:
- You can access the Adobe Reader 9.1 software free from Grants.gov download site: http://grants.gov/help/download_software.jsp.
- Users are encouraged to update to Adobe Reader 9.1 to avoid security issues that may be present in older Adobe Reader versions.
- Users should not update Adobe Reader beyond version 9.1. As new versions of Adobe Reader are released and deemed compatible by Grants.gov, ORAA will communicate this information through its website so the entire UM research community can use the same version of Adobe Reader.
It is not possible for ORAA staff to identify the version of Adobe Reader used to prepare an application. It is only when an application is submitted to Grants.gov and it is rejected that ORAA will know that there is a problem with the application. If an application is rejected, the PI will need to download and complete a new application package with Adobe Reader 9.1. An application must be accepted by Grants.gov for it to be submitted to the agency. An invalid submission will not meet the time deadline requirements of the agency.
Please share this information with all individuals working with Grants.gov applications in
your College/Department. If you have questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to
contact me at oraaonline@umresearch.umd.edu
Thank you in advance for your cooperation.
