- The Office of Technology Commercialization (OTC) is the technology transfer office at the University of Maryland College Park. OTC facilitates the transfer of cutting-edge technologies to business and industry for intellectual property developed at the University of Maryland. OTC facilitates the transfer and commercialization of information, life and physical science inventions developed at the University of Maryland. Since its inception in 1986, OTC has received more than 1,500 invention disclosures, secured more than 275 U.S. patents and licensed more than 750 technologies, generating more than $23.5 million in technology transfer income. In addition, more than 40 high-tech start-up companies have been formed based on technologies developed at the university
